Marilyn Yu

With a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Masters in City and Regional Planning from UC Berkeley, Marilyn Yu is constantly trying to merge her various interests in the work she does. For over a decade, Yu has interwoven media, ideas, and people in her creations.  In this her latest work, Yu takes fine art out of the gallery, high fashion off the runway, and adds stunning visuals to prose in order to aggregate and intensify their impact on and connection to life.

Yu’s artwork has always mixed her lighthearted and humorous perspective with critical topics ranging from urban sprawl to the culture of consumerism.  Indeed, she was a pioneer in introducing sustainability to high fashion with her award-winning, hemp-based clothing line, Plutonium Clothing.

Living in a time of great cultural transition as advances in technology break down traditional boundaries, Yu finds our inherited cultures unskilled at dealing with the collisions of different ideas and views. She believes that as our inter-dependence increases, the ultimate ramification of misdirected aggression is self-destruction. This motivates her to strive for compassion and self-exploration in order to shed inherited expectations and obligations.  She hopes to inspire others to manifest by showing, through her work, that ideas and dreams can become reality.

DeCenzo was born to hippie parents and spent her childhood living in Volkswagen buses as her family wandered, exploring America’s rich landscape.

Cordova was a wild child running free among Oregon apple orchards, and sneaking snap shots with her parents’ point-n-shoot. Together they create a warm, approachable look reminiscent of their carefree childhoods.

DeCenzo+Cordova have been recently commissioned to do Intersection Magazine’s electric car spread. Currently, they are finishing up Plutonium Clothing’s creative book venture, “Relations that Suck: The Story of Eva and Dries.” They are active members of the female photography group dandelionblack.

Nikol Elaine Dedischew

Nikol Elaine is a credited make-up and hair artist from East Bay California. In an attempt to experiment with ability, Nikol chose the medium of human artistry to expand upon. While dabbling in photography and painting, no other medium captures the immense passion seen in her art work of human form.

Her journey to invention was founded by the Michigan College of Beauty in Troy MI; from where she received a certificate of completion. After schooling was completed, Nikol traveled back to the west coast to be affiliated with Macy’s, MAC Cosmetics, San Francisco Fashion Week, Jones New York, BCBG MaxAzria, Lloyd Boston, Anne Taylor, Anthropology, and over 7 different hair salons. While this list continues to grow, so does Nikol’s expertise and ardor about her artwork. Today, she resides in East Bay, California furthering her repertoire at Sixty Forty Two Salon. Viv&Ingrid

One was a traveler, trekking through exotic lands across the Atlantic. The other was a designer, focused on fashion runways in the city. Postcards kept them in touch while apart; a sewing machine brought them together…

Vivian Wang and Ingrid Chen met as young girls and remained close friends through adulthood. Growing up in the Bay Area, both completed their undergraduate studies at the University of California at Berkeley. Vivian graduated with a Business degree, emphasizing in Marketing; Ingrid received her BA in Physiology.

Preferring to enhance the human body rather than dissect it, Ingrid switched her pursuit to an MFA in Fashion Design at the Academy of Art College. Meanwhile, Vivian traded the corporate scene for a life on the road, backpacking through Europe, Asia and Australia.

In January of 1999, while discussing the latest fashion trends over coffee, they realized that they were a design team waiting to happen. Vivian with her free-spirited flair, Ingrid with her refined detailing, both obsessive compulsive; they set out together to create a new philosophy in accessible luxuries for the modern woman.

Stephani Martinez

Stephani Martinez was born in Richmond, CA and now lives in Oakland, CA. Stephani received her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. Her work has been exhibited throughout the bay area at venues including Intersection for the Arts, Mission Cultural Center, and the Berkeley Art Center. Stephani’s work reflects her observation of snowflakes, meanders, doilies, spider webs, going round and round in repetition, and the methodical and meditative aspect of women stitching and spiders spinning, waves lapping, wind blowing though grass fields, and the patterns she makes over and over. Stephani is interested in how this connects to her ideas about the feminine and how stories are repeated again and again, through myth and folklore, and how the patterns she creates lead back again to personal memories.

Yuk Lung Ha

Dr. Ha spends his time actively in making and cultivating physical and non-physical things. He has worked in thin film deposition for the hard drive industry and is presently performing MOCVD epitaxial growth in the development of high speed semiconductor lasers and detectors for the data and telecommunications industry.

He also serves on the board of a youth education and development non-profit that enables youth to lead change in their lives and communities.

The remainder of his time is spent kayaking, playing ice hockey, practicing aikido, and participating in intriguing endeavors.
